What you have believed is not the faith of a true Christian whose goal is the hope of Christ revealed within God’s love. The faith of Christ is the hope of Christ that follows the love of the cross—a love that gives even one’s own life—and it is to have that hope as the goal, the value, and the very essence that is manifested in your body and in your life. This requires receiving the power of God that puts to death the habits which make sin inevitable.

Truth is receiving power within God’s love, where love is supplied into our hearts to nourish, govern, and lead us with that very love. Yet there are almost no teachers on this earth who lead people to receive this power by teaching the truth.

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to this temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifer of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.(Malachi 3 : 1~3)

And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.(Isaiah 19 : 20)

This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.(Acts 7 : 37)

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.(Matthew 12 : 17~20)

The Word of Scripture is not words and theories. Your faith is merely intellectual, theoretical, and emotional. It is like eating a painted cake—something that cannot truly satisfy—because it is a form of belief that cannot obtain the power and nature of God, which brings new birth, transformation, and change, accompanied by abundant liberality and joy flowing from a clear conscience. In other words, because you serve God while mingling with the world and material wealth, your faith is solely for your own happiness, success, and smooth prosperity, making you merely a religious person within a religion that teaches and learns every kind of corruption, heresy, and falsehood. For this reason, Christians cannot escape the yoke of sin, endlessly repeating sin and repentance until the day they die.

Such repentance becomes meaningless—it merely produces clever excuses to justify one’s sins. This is the state of repentance in today’s Christianity. The repentance of Christ, however, is abandoning the root cause from which sin inevitably arises—that is, a life belonging to the world and to the flesh. It is to follow the love of the cross with the resolve to give even one’s life. But even this love of the cross requires receiving God’s love supplied into our hearts, in order to receive the power to put to death the members born of the flesh and the evil habits. Leading someone to receive that power—this is truth.

Yet all believers within Christianity today live with the same struggles as you. As their conscience dies to the point where they can no longer feel its pangs, only greater emptiness and lack grow within them. Those who receive God’s love as nourishment within their hearts naturally produce abundant liberality and overflowing thanksgiving. The only way we can truly stand on the path of forming godly character before God—within that abundant liberality and overflowing gratitude—is to receive God’s love.

You will never find God’s love through the methods of Christianity or religion. It can only be obtained on the basis of the standard of the Word of Scripture. Christians who, like the people of the world, serve God while mingling with the world and material wealth—seeking only solutions to family problems, business problems, workplace problems, relationship problems, and health problems for the sake of their own happiness, success, and smooth prosperity—have a faith of the flesh that can only lead to judgment. They are not the beautiful children of God whose goal is the hope of Christ pursued through the love of God.

As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.(Romans 9 : 25)

Calling those who are not God’s children “children of God” comes from the grace of a merciful God who desires to rightly lead those who believe in vain. Yet there are far too many who cannot take hold of this grace. Most Christians disgrace the abundant mercy of God. Christians are not the same as true disciples of Christ. A true disciple receives the love of God, becoming an example and model like light and salt, and within that supplied love, by the power of God revealed there, puts to death the habits and members that inevitably produce sin. Truth is leading people to obtain the love that follows God’s power.
