  • I went to a church service and I am kind of freaked out. I do not know what to think.

So I was invited by this elderly lady to this church service she would do at her house with other older people. In the beginning it was calm. Everyone together started sining songs of praise, it sounded so nice. After a while it was getting louder and louder and everyone was yelling it with passion. It started getting pentecostal like. They started praying, and I dont if the spirit was manifesting or what but they started yelling in tongues all together, it was uncomfortable but I didnt even know how to feel or what to do, I was so nervous. One lady started screaming so loud, I dont know if it was a demon but they all prayed over her loudly and praying in tongues. I wanted to go home. But i didnt say anything cuz I had a feeling they would tell me its a demon in me. I am trying to get my mind together and calm it down.

If the tongues you experienced made you feel fear, then do not go to that church, for that is demonic tongues. It is satanic tongues used for sorcery and divinations that invite evil spirits. True tongues carry the beauty of God’s praise. In other words, tongues are like the babbling of little infants. Have you not heard the cooing sounds of a nursing baby? They make lovely, delicate, and incomprehensible utterances. That is what tongues are—God’s praise expressed through them.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.(Psalms 8 : 2)

And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?(Matthew 21 : 16)

The reason God gave praise to nursing infants is to protect the weak and tender babies from Satan, for the babbling of infants is a tongue in which God’s authority is present. Thus, tongues appear in nursing infants who possess a pure conscience—that is, an undefiled spirit untainted by sin and evil. This tongue of God’s praise is for those who pursue the love of Christ, who set their goal on living the life of Christ, and who follow the hope of Christ.

On the other hand, tongues accompanied by violent, grotesque, and chilling behaviors are nothing but sorcery and divinations in which demons are at work, because they arise from those who seek only the lust of this life, the lust of the eyes, and desire solely for their own happiness, blessing, and success. In other words, to those who seek material things, the god of materialism works; to those who seek lust, the god of lust works; to those who seek carnal lineage, the god of lineage works—appearing as though it were God or Christ.

For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.(1 Corinthians 14 : 14~17)

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.(Colossians 3 : 16~17)

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.(Ephesians 5 : 19~21)

For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.(Hebrews 13 : 14~15)

What you believe for determines whether you speak in tongues influenced by demons or in tongues in which God is at work. The sins that Christians repeat until death prove that they are not children of God but children of the devil. With cunning tactics they pretend to be good, holy, kind, and humble, yet their behavior inside the church and outside, their outward appearance and inward reality, their words and actions, are all inconsistent and marked by detestable duplicity that deceives many people. Can those who practice sorcery and divination—seeking only their own happiness, success, and blessings—ever become examples like the light and salt who follow the love of the cross, even to the point of laying down their own lives?

Since their faith remains in a vicious cycle of sinning and repenting until death, they increasingly take sin lightly, grow bolder about sin, rationalize and excuse their sin, and ultimately become bold and shameless about it, turning into monsters. This is the tragic reality of Christians today. Depart from churches where tongues are spoken under the influence of Satan and demons; they are no different from people intoxicated with drugs. Fear lest you become just like them. First, you must arm yourself with the Word of God. For most pastors today teach their own claims that deviate from the Scriptures, and the majority of believers have become slaves to pastors and churches. This is not the life of true Christians who center their faith on God’s Word, but rather a faith rooted in man-made religions and ideologies, pursuing only carnal desires and lusts, thereby falling into deception.

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.(2 Peter 2 : 9~10)

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.(1 John 3 : 5~8)
