I emphasize the why, because there are plenty of people online questioning the meaning of “Speaking in Tongues”. I was reading Paul’s letters earlier, and noticed that he treats tongues almost like an every day occurrence or activity in the early churches. If this is true, why is it such a mystery today? Though I am a protestant, I am especially interested in hearing the opinions of Christians in churches with strong apostolic succession, as I would think there would be some remnant, memory or tradition as to what on earth this act is! Or are we really all so sinful and tainted that such an ability is just lost to us? In God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace

Seventeen Characteristics of Demonic Tongues—Sorcery and Divination Operating Within Christianity
The reason why demonic tongues inevitably operate is because people serve God together with the world and material things. Their faith is fleshly, driven by lusts, corruption, heresies, and lies. Without any evidence, fruit, or power of even a mustard seed of faith, Christians spend their entire lives repeating sin. Such faith is not an example or model like the light and the salt, but no different from hypocrisy and self-display, just like the good works, philanthropy, and charity that all worldly companies perform as a matter of course. Because they disguise and teach these things as though they were the love of the cross, they bring reproach upon the love of Christ, which sacrifices even one’s life. A Christian who repeats sin throughout life is neither a true Christian nor a child of God—he is only a child of the devil, a devil himself. Therefore, Christians who repent yet turn back and sin again, repeating sin in their evil human habits, are not true Christians.
It is the power of God’s love at work that leads sinners—who cannot help but repeat sin until death—to receive the power of God, which overcomes human limits and ideals and puts to death the evil members of the flesh. This is truth. It is not words or the emotional inspiration of sermons, like those of pastors who rely on worldly teachings and feelings without the power of God. Rather, it is the mighty strength and power of God that kills the very evil habits of man that inevitably repeat sin and sets him free from sin.
Christians who remain on the path of sinners, repeating sin all their lives, are not living the life of Christ. Their faith is merely fleshly faith for worldly lusts, aimed only at their own happiness, success, and ideals. Such faith can only result in sin being repeated until death. It is a faith without even the power, evidence, or fruit of a mustard seed. Because it is a faith for nothing more than their own happiness, lusts, blessings, success, and prosperity, they serve God together with the world and material things, producing a corrupt, heretical, and deceitful false faith and false prayers.
The tongues that arise from such false faith and prayers are nothing but divination seeking their own blessing and sorcery calling upon their own lusts and greed. These are demonic tongues—vain prayers that stem from lust and greed. They are tongues in which one feels nothing of the holiness, kindness, or beautiful love of God, but instead a very cold, harsh, and even repulsive sense.
All human beings, from a very young age, are inevitably raised indiscriminately under these seven hidden emotional sins: the spirit of envy works in those who envy, the spirit of jealousy in those who are jealous, the spirit of hatred in those who hate, the spirit of pride in those who are proud, the spirit of lust in those who harbor lust, the spirit of anger in those who harbor wrath, and the spirit of falsehood in those who practice lies. In other words, it is the same seven demons that once worked in Mary Magdalene. Moreover, the acts you have performed are influenced by the spirit of morality, not by the righteousness of God. The righteousness that leads to salvation is the power and strength of God’s love that molds His divine nature within you.
He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.(Proverbs 26 : 24~28)(Proverbs 9 : 1)
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.(Luke 11 : 24~26)(Matthew 12 : 43)
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance…(Acts 2 : 2~13)(1 Corinthians 14 : 1~26)(Jeremiah 5 : 11~15)
On the path of sinners belonging to the world and the flesh, where sin cannot but be repeated until death, within the carnal faith that is bound by the evil habits of the flesh, goodness and righteousness may provide some help in directing one toward the love of God, but they cannot bring about the character of God that is worthy of leading to heaven and salvation. Instead, it only results in missing the opportunity and occasion to receive the power within God’s love, where the power of God works to kill the sinful habits and members of the flesh that cannot help but repeat evil until death. All deeds born of human emotion and human will are by no means the love of divine power manifested within the unwavering love of God.
When one prays with a heart filled only with sin, within the evil habits of man by which sin must be repeated throughout life, will it be demons that work, or will it be God, the God of love, who works? Consider this carefully. Satan holds the authority to present himself as if he were God or as if he were Christ. That is why so many gods of the world are at work.
Let anyone try repeating the word Hallelujah for more than an hour! What occurs is rather the phenomenon of the tongue twisting, in which one’s tongue cannot speak properly, and from this purely natural occurrence arises an effect that is misused, as though it were a spiritual gift from God. Such disgraceful deception has already become widespread and legitimized among countless pastors and churches. That which they themselves produce through their prolonged effort of repeating Hallelujah—how can this be considered a gift received by the grace of God? How can a forced, man-made trick of the tongue be called a spiritual gift? They have turned the true spiritual gift of God into a thing of compulsion and falsehood, a deception deserving of the utmost condemnation.
Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.(1 Corinthians 14 : 1~12)
Those who have received the true tongues of God understand these words without any hesitation, as though the meaning itself presses upon their very skin. But the tongues of those who do not know this meaning are 100% nothing more than sorcery and incantation, led by Satan and demons—it is the tongues of Satan and demons. Moreover, these tongues are either forced utterances created from the phenomenon of the tongue twisting through the repeated shouting of Hallelujah, or tongues that arise among such forced utterances.
In addition, because they teach and learn their perishing worldly desires, dreams, and ambitions as though they were God’s mission, ideal, passion, or talent, they are those who attempt to serve God together with the world and material things. Thus, being trained under corrupted and false sermons and teachings that pursue only perishing worldly desires, dreams, and ambitions, they seek nothing related to salvation, but only vain things that bring dishonor to the holy name of God. They pursue nothing more than flattery, lies, and blessings of worldly peace, which have nothing to do with salvation, chasing after only what fits their own worldly appetite. Their faith exists only for their own perishing hopes, desires, and successes.
It is a faith that, under the guise of vision, talent, and mission, exists only to pursue, obtain, and accomplish perishing things of the world—things that will lead them to judgment. Such faith is vain, a double-minded and abominable faith.
If the tongues you speak were truly the tongues of God, then those tongues would be praises offered by angels to God. The record of such praises is given as an example by David in the Psalms. The language of angels, the heavenly language, carries within the words themselves the authority of God. Therefore, within the true tongues of God there is authority itself, by which Satan and demons are cast out.
But the false tongues of Satan—sorcery and incantation tongues, learned through the tongue-twisting phenomenon—are not the language of the kingdom of love in which the love of God works with authority. Thus, no authority is ever manifested. Being nothing more than satanic tongues of sorcery and incantation, they produce instead a chilling fear, like goosebumps rising, and all manner of intrusive thoughts pressing in. In order to drive these away, many strike the wall with their hands while praying, or endlessly repeat phrases like the blood of Jesus, Satan, depart!, fire, fire!, shhh, shhh!, blood, blood, blood!—thousands upon tens of thousands of times—seeking only to rid themselves of the fear and dread that arise before them.
In the Scriptures, the words Satan, depart! were indeed recorded as examples when Christ and His disciples drove demons out from the sick. But never is it written in Scripture that anyone prayed, in fear or dread during prayer, crying out Satan, depart! This proves that such tongues lack the authority and power of God, and that instead something else is at work—something that causes fear.
And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?(Matthew 21 : 16)
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.(Psalms 8 : 2)
If one’s tongues truly carry the genuine praises of God, then by the working of God’s power within those tongues, Satan could never appear nor act; on the contrary, it would be entirely natural for him to flee. Thus, even in the babbling of infants who cannot yet speak, Satan cannot work, and the infants, though defenseless, are protected from Satan and demons.
The tongues of God are like the babbling of infants—gentle, tender, and clear to hear, as beautiful and pure as the sounds of nature. Any prayer that carries with it fear, dread, or terror, no matter who offers it, is the tongues of Satan and of demons. The fear and dread that appear when Satan and demons work are the very symptoms shown by shamans and mediums when they call their spirits into their bodies. This is the sign found among those who seek only perishing and vain things of the world, where the spirits of the world—Satan and demons—govern, disguising themselves as if they were the tongues of God.
This is the same principle as the violent bodily movements of shamans and mediums while they pray, and the process of feeling dread and fear as they invite familiar spirits into their bodies is identical to the workings of sorcerers performing sorcery. Yet many churches and pastors teach these demonic tongues. Thus, the dances of shamans, in which demons are at work, have been rebranded as the dances of the Holy Spirit; the visions and trances in which shamans claim to see and feel something in a moment have been disguised under the pretense of God’s prophecy; divination has been turned into God’s blessing; and fortune-telling has been called God’s prophecy, deceiving countless believers.
Even the very word trance (ipsin), so often used in these churches, is a term belonging to shamans and sorcerers who serve familiar spirits.
…They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken? Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD. And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.(Ezekiel 13 : 6~9)
Fortune-telling of good or bad luck is disguised as if it were God’s blessing and peace, and put forward as though it were the holy prophecy of God. And to covet more offerings and wealth from countless believers, churches have filled themselves with all sorts of gaudy gatherings—prophetic ministries, revival crusades, spiritual forums, spiritual training, spiritual seminars, gift-centered meetings, “schools of apostles,” and “schools of prophets.” Most churches have become nothing more than dens of thieves, no different from robbers (see reference: Tithes and Offerings).
Yet the true purpose of God, the source of love, is to make Himself known throughout the earth, so that people may become perfect children of God who bear His love. Through tithes and offerings, God intended that feeding, giving, and caring charity would be revealed to all the earth and all believers, so that they might learn to care for one another, cherish one another, and serve one another. By this, they would be conformed to the character of God, following after the love of the cross, bearing the fruits and gifts of love in unity. But they have denied this, and instead use excuses and false pretenses, employing the forced and deceptive phenomenon of tongue-twisting as if it were their own “gifts.” They make people pray with their hands raised for one to three hours, until their bodies are on the verge of collapse, and then lay hands on them so they fall down. What has this to do with salvation? How can this possibly be called the power of God or a spiritual gift?
Today, such manifestations and symptoms—found only among shamans or those possessed by spirits—are directly opposed to the content of the Scriptures. Yet most of the large churches teach these very phenomena, the same signs and symptoms of shamans and mediums who serve false spirits identical with the gift recorded in the Bible, as though they were the spiritual gifts of Christ. As a result, like poisonous mushrooms, these practices have spread rapidly throughout the world.
The truth of the Holy Spirit is that it leads man to obtain the power of God revealed in His love, which surpasses the limits of man that can only repeat sin, and sets him free from sin. The emotional inspiration and teachings of sermons that rely only on words and theories, stirring up human awakening, resolution, determination, and pride, cannot put to death the evil habits of man that continually repeat sin. Thus, all believers remain unable to be born again, trapped in the yoke of sinners who can only repeat sin until death.
Because they are not born again and spend their lives repeating sin, the tongues of Christians take on a form that anyone who sees or hears cannot help but question: Are these truly the tongues of God’s beautiful praise? Their tongues are violent, harsh, rough, and aggressive. They appear and sound unpleasant, repulsive, and chilling—like the voices of demons. They roll about on the ground, stomp madly upon the floor, shake their hands, feet, and bodies violently, strike down as though smashing, repeat scraping sounds like metal, produce grotesque noises, mimic the sounds of beasts, or imitate in hideous ways the forms of snakes, cats, rats, or monkeys. Their tongue movements resemble exactly those of shamans in animal-like rituals or mediums who serve familiar spirits in order to summon demons.
By the plain common sense of anyone with even a little reason, such things cannot be understood. Yet Christians call these manifestations of their “Holy Spirit” and “tongues” the very Spirit, tongues, and power of God’s love. In truth, they are nothing but a wretched display.
1. It is a babbling tongue that repeats continuously a few unintelligible sounds or utterances, a meaningless repetition.
2. It consists only of unpleasant noises that are neither words nor sentences, characterized by repeated sounds (for example: lalala, dandan, shh shh shh, fire fire). It also often involves extreme twisting of the tongue.
3. Any tongue that sounds unpleasant, or has a husky voice, or a thick tone, or feels like the scraping of metal, or is aggressive, grotesque, or deceitful in nature—all of these are false tongues.
4. Severe bodily movements are repeated, using the head, hands, arms, and legs. Yet the person believes they are praying earnestly in deep concentration. In reality, this is not depth of prayer but concentration with the mind driven by temper and will. True prayer rises from the depth of the heart, whereas what comes from temper and emotion is a vain prayer for the flesh.
5. Because they harbor fear, anxiety, or distracting thoughts during prayer, they keep repeating phrases such as In the name of Jesus, Satan, depart!, Demon, leave!, or the blood of Jesus!
6. The more they speak in tongues, the more their temper increases (which they call being filled with the Holy Spirit). As a result, unlike when they first began, they become filled with arguments, quarrels, and hatred. This inevitably brings divisions, factions, and conflicts into the church. Believers gradually come to harbor invisible suspicion, distrust, and resentment toward one another, resulting in tongues that foster duplicity—a double mind with outward appearances different from the inward heart, and words inconsistent with actions. (Yet most ignorant believers mistake this hidden suspicion, distrust, and resentment for the fruit of patience of the Spirit, since it is not outwardly expressed.)
7. Those who practice satanic tongues increasingly become emotionally unstable, more fickle, sharper in temperament, and colder in heart.
8. The more they speak in tongues, the more they are stirred up with fleeting excitement—momentary joy that cannot last—leading believers to be trained in a pattern of emotional impulses, momentary thrills, and temporary comfort, as though everything were about to be fulfilled at once. Yet in this state of habit, they are blinded from seeing or hearing the true eternal grace and gifts of God, in which there is abiding joy and the richness of genuine liberality. These tongues only lead into blindness.
He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit. There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment. Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellers of peace is joy.(Proverbs 12 : 17~20)
When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without. And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face. They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies. They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneeded the dough, until it be leavened.(Hosea 7 : 1~4)
How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.(Matthew 16 : 11~12)
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.(1 Corinthians 5 : 7~8)
9. These are tongues of believers who live under the rule of constant conflict, emptiness, anxiety, confusion, and distracting thoughts. (Most pastors, abominably, teach such absurd phenomena as though they were part of Christ’s training process.) These are tongues learned from those who, using Joseph’s suffering as their justification, demand patience and endurance.
10. They are nothing more than like a squirrel running in a wheel—bearing no fruit or evidence—merely giving the lips and tongue a sense of exercise. There is no brightness or refreshment in the heart, and they naturally produce a measure of doubt. (Yet when such doubts are brought up, most pastors who lead satanic tongues all teach the same thing: “Do not doubt, but by the name of Jesus and by faith drive away all Satan and doubt.”)
11. At first, satanic tongues seem joyful, but as they increase, the heart becomes more confused, impoverished, empty, or vain, bringing sadness like that of being isolated and alone, with a desire to abandon everything of the world, resulting in symptoms of anxiety and even depression.
12. Those who speak satanic tongues will inevitably experience dreams of snakes, dreams of demons, dreams of being chased, or the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. Yet they ignorantly believe these are part of training, or think that because in their dreams they fought and drove Satan away, they have achieved victory by God’s power and faith. These tongues are governed by the pride of such deceived hearts.
13. All pastors who teach satanic tongues insist that these are the spiritual gifts of tongues given by God. They instruct their followers not to doubt, and if any thought contrary arises in the heart, to treat it as though it were Satan’s work, thereby preventing believers from ever recognizing the doubts that naturally arise in their conscience. (If believers begin to doubt these phenomena or discern them as false, such pastors intimidate them by claiming that this is the sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit, frightening and oppressing them so that they dare not question their satanic tongues at all. This is the cunning of Satan’s shepherds, who disguise themselves as though they were God’s shepherds.)
14. Those who practice satanic tongues inevitably suffer worsening health, grow increasingly anxious, and gradually change into people of harsh, rough, and violent character. The more satanic tongues increase, the more desolate the heart becomes, and in severe cases, even mental breakdowns and schizophrenia occur.
15. Those who speak satanic tongues inevitably pursue trances, laying on of hands, gifts of healing, and gifts of prophecy. These tongues are learned from those who, like shamans, teach by sorcery and divination.
16. Believers who practice satanic tongues almost always base their faith on success and the pursuit of happiness. Instead of the Word of God, they rely chiefly on books written by famous pastors who misuse Scripture, and they shape their faith and practice around such teachings.
17. Those who teach satanic tongues all alike claim that tongues are the sign of having received the Holy Spirit. But the true sign of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. Therefore, because they carry the lying spirit of Satan, they teach that tongues are the sign of salvation and of the Holy Spirit.
Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.(1 Corinthians 14 : 22)
A faith that is not measured by Scripture but believes by one’s own thoughts, claims, standards, and judgments is, in effect, saying that the self is the Word, the Christ, and God. Repentance is begin by bringing our lives—bound to repeat sin until death—into the light of the Word to expose what is wrong. Repentance that still repeats sin is worthless. The very purpose of repentance is the repentance of new birth, in which one no longer commits sin. Therefore, whoever goes on repeating sin, whoever they may be, is not a true Christian. A true Christian does not commit sin; the children of God, having been set free from sin, do not sin.
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.(1 John 5 : 18~19)
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.(1 John 3 : 5~10)
All religions are made by man. Therefore, being human religions, they cannot escape human limits. Hence all religionists are nothing but religionists who have failed to transcend those limits—unable to show even a mustard-seed measure of power, testimony, or fruit—and can do nothing but repeat sin.
Truth is the wisdom of God in which the power of God works. Scripture declares that the one who commits sin proves he belongs to the world, and that the one who keeps repeating sin is a child of the devil. You, too, are not a Christian; that is why today’s outcome has come upon you.
Do not be a religionist no different from the people of the world who can only repeat sin until death. Become a true Christian who, aiming at the hope of Christ in order to live the life of Christ, grows into the beautiful character of God. The only way out of the sinner’s path that can only repeat sin is this: take up your own cross and, with the resolve to die, walk in the life of Christ that pursues the hope of Christ. Only this is the one way for you to be healed of your illness and to obtain the beautiful character of God that follows the power of love.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.(2 Timothy 3 : 16~17)
If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.(1 Timothy 4 : 6)
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works…(Titus 2 : 11~15)
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.(Romans 6 : 16~18)
A shepherd of God leads people to the truth that enables them to receive God’s power and depart from the path of sinners. He guides them to obtain the truth of God’s power that puts to death the evil habits and the fleshly members that can only keep repeating sin, so that they may become the good people of God.
…Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works….(Titus 2 : 11~15)
I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.(Jeremiah 23 : 21~22)
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.(James 5 : 19~20)
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.(1 Peter 4 : 1~2)
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.(Romans 8 : 19~21)
A life that follows the love of God, bearing one’s own cross and aiming for the hope of Christ, does not harbor the lusts that inevitably lead to repeated sin, and therefore must be clothed in purity; this is the hope of salvation and the blessed hope. Depending on what you serve for, your life is determined—whether you become a servant of goodness and righteousness by following the love of God, or whether you pursue only your own happiness, success, hope, and ideals, serving God together with the world and material things, thereby following every kind of corruption, heresy, evil, and falsehood. In so doing you deny the love of Christ, and your faith for the flesh becomes nothing more than a carnal religion, unworthy even of the holy name of God, condemned to repeat sin until death.
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works…(Titus 2 : 11~15)
hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.(Romans 5 : 4~5)
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.(Ephesians 4 : 15~16)
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.(Ephesians 3 : 17~19)
He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.(Proverbs 26 : 24~28)
The righteousness that leads to salvation is the power and strength of God’s love that molds His divine nature within you. On the path of sinners, belonging to the world and the flesh, where sins are repeated until death under the evil habits of the body, good deeds and righteousness born of fleshly faith may help a little to guide one toward pursuing God’s love, but they cannot attain to the divine nature required for heaven and salvation. The only way to obtain authority within the love of God is to receive tongues, gifts, power, prophecy, and the Holy Spirit, which work only in those who take up their cross, follow the love of Christ, and set the hope of Christ as their goal. Therefore, the fundamental reason why those who try to serve God while clinging to the world and material things can only spend their entire lives endlessly repeating sin is because, one hundred percent, it is demons that are at work within their lives and their faith itself.
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.(Ephesians 4 : 15~16)
hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.(Romans 5 : 4~5)
Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.(Colossians 2 : 18~19)
For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.(Titus 3 : 3~7)
The good deeds of religious people, born of human will, inevitably collide with reality and circumstances. Such people act differently inside and outside the church, their outward appearance and inward reality are not the same, and their words and actions are inconsistent. They only possess the habit of cunning duplicity, always pretending to be holy, kind, humble, and good, armed with crafty ways of conduct. Therefore, while committing the sins of the seven emotions, their practice of goodness and righteousness cannot help but lose its lasting meaning.
When one cries out with a heart full of sin, bound in the evil habits of sinful man that cannot help but repeat sin throughout a lifetime, will it be demons that work, or will it be the God of love who works? Consider this carefully. Satan has clothed himself with the authority to appear as though he were God or Christ, and this is why so many gods of the world are at work. First, for what do you believe in God? Is it not a foolish faith that, caught in the evil habit of sinning, repenting, and then turning back to sin again, can only perform a vain repentance that leaves you repeating sin? And is your faith not, rather than the beautiful faith of Christ—where, as the Scripture says, one is born again, changed, and set free from sin, overflowing with generous gifts and abounding thanksgiving—actually a fleshly faith that lives always in resentment, despair, anxiety, discouragement, and anger? Is it not a faith that, because of pastors’ sermons, can only repeat one’s own awakenings, resolutions, and determinations, relying on oneself throughout life, floundering in sin without ever surpassing the limits of man that can only keep repeating sin for a lifetime?
And because their faith is that of lifelong listeners who seek only their own happiness, success, ideals, and prosperity—instead of the beautiful sacrificial love of Christ and the holy will of God—even the social service, kindness, and charity that anyone in the world can do are paraded as if they were the love of the cross that lays down one’s life; thus Christians have become a laughingstock to the devotees of every false religion. Most such Christians act one way inside the church and another outside; their outward show and inner reality differ; their words and deeds do not match. They perfect only a duplicitous craft that pretends to be holy, kind, courteous, humble, and good. These are Christians who cannot escape the human limit of repeating sin until death. This is because neither all religions nor Christianity was made by God; they were made by humans for their lusts—therefore, within Christianity, not even a mustard-seed of faith, evidence, or fruit appears.
Those who, lacking even mustard-seed faith, are children of the devil—yet call themselves children of God, Christians, God’s shepherds, Spirit-filled, gifted with tongues, powerful, prophets, and testifiers—are merely rationalizing phenomena that do not appear anywhere in Scripture but among shamans and syncretistic sects that serve false gods. It is the blind leading the blind: what is at work in them—according to the wages of sin and in line with what they harbor in their hearts—is the working of demons, yet they take it as if it were God or Christ and do not even know it.
Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them? Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols; That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols. Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.(Ezekiel 14 : 3~6)
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself: And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.(Ezekiel 14 : 4~11)
Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.(Isaiah 66 : 1~4)
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.(1 Corinthians 12 : 1~2)
Within religion, they teach communion with spirits as though it were receiving the Holy Spirit; they call incantations and sorcery that summon spirits “tongues”; they call fortune-telling and divination “prophecy”; they call every kind of demonic wonder “the miracles of God.” And because they serve God together with the world and material wealth, their prayers—being for nothing but worldly ideals, hopes, happiness, blessings—are prayers for lust in which demons must inevitably work. Thus those who seek the world receive the god of this world; those who seek wealth receive the god of wealth; those who seek lust receive the god of lust; those who seek carnal passion receive carnal passion—as if such were God, or Christ, or an angel, disguised and masquerading. The more than one hundred passages of Scripture written in this article will clearly and unmistakably bear witness to this truth.
